Chapter 47 - Med Bay
-
Aiko: Wait, we forgot about Gess. We shouldn’t just leave her up there. Is there somewhere down here we can keep her?
-
Rey: Yes, of course. Let’s put her in the med bay. Just lay her on one of the stasis beds. It will run a diagnostic and suspend any further putrefaction, it will then keep her in stasis until we return.
-
Scene: Aiko gives her a confused look.
-
Rey: Sorry. Just lay her down on one of the beds in the room to the right. The bed will do the rest.

Aiko: I think I now understand what you were trying to tell me, Gess, before we came down here. This sacrifice tortured you for so long, and I wasn’t even emotionally there to help you. I was never the friend that you deserved, I was so hung up with my own petty issue that I couldn’t see the struggle facing you every day. Your sacrifice led us to this place, and if we’re successful, you will have saved our people. But life will never be the same without you. You looked to me as the teacher, but you have taught me more about how to love and give than I could ever learn on my own. My heart is torn in two, and I will miss you more than I can say. You will always live in my heart Gess.
-
Scene: After the door closes and Aiko gives one last longing look, the stasis bed begins its scan.

Rey: She was the bravest little girl I have ever known. None of us could ever appreciate the love she had and showed by giving up her live to save ours.
Aiko: You’re right. And even now I still can’t believe she’s gone. It’s doesn’t seem real.
Rey: No, it doesn’t. But now it’s up to us to make sure her sacrifice wasn’t in vain. Time is running short. She gave us everything we need to complete this task, so let’s finish this. For Gess and for our people. Are you ready?
Aiko: I’m ready
