Chapter 50 - The Challenge
Scene: They run up a path that ends at a bridge leading out into a lake, with a gate, barring their way.
-
-
Aiko: Is that it?
Rey: Apparently.
Scene: They then walk down to the bridge and cross over to the gate.
-
Aiko: How do we get in?
Rey: This will open the gate and activate the challenge.
Aiko: Activate it to do what?
Rey: Normally there would be additional things to contend with, like droid shooting at us, that we would have to avoid, but since I deactivate those, the only challenge left is to make our way to the end by figuring out how to activate or trigger the next obstacle.
Aiko: Can’t that thing on your rest just activate everything and just let us walk to the end?
Rey: No, it’s not programed for that, we’ll have to do that part on our own. Let’s just hope we can do it quickly.
-
Scene: After opening the gate, they are confronted with several walls, and one final wall that they must scale.
-
-
Rey: You go that way and I’ll go this way. I think the first part of this challenge is to run along those walls and leap onto the back wall.
-
-
-
Scene: After leaping on the smaller walls, Aiko spots something in the water.
Aiko: I thought you said you deactivated all of the things that could attack us. What’s that?
Rey: Apparently I couldn’t disable everything. It must play a part somehow.
Aiko: ya to eat us if we fall in.
-
Scene: After leaping onto the wall, the water creature leaped out of the water towards Aiko. When she swung her legs up onto one of the ledges protruding out, it activated others that slid out
-
-
-
-
-
Rey: Look, more ledges have slid out. Use those to climb up further.
-
Scene: As Aiko continue to jump to other ledges, more appeared, allowing her to reach the top.
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
-
Rey: Good job! You figured out the correct sequence. What’s on the other side?
-
Aiko: Just more rock walls.
-
-
Scene: After reaching the top, Rey and Aiko made their way down to the lower walls.
-
Aiko: Now what?
Rey: I guess we walk out onto the further walls and try to trigger the next obstacle.
-
Scene: As soon as they stepped onto the next set of walls, they started to rotate and descend into the water. They both raced across to the furthest end and leaped onto the next walls before they would end up into the water.
-
-
-
-
-
-
Aiko: That was close.
-
Rey: Apparently the point of this challenge is not to fall into the water, or we will be disqualified.
Aiko: Or eaten by that creature.
Rey: That is a possibility.
-
Scene: They then met each other at the middle of the wall.
Aiko: Now what, nothing is happening.
-
Rey: You walk to that end, and I’ll go down here.
-
-
Scene: As Rey reaches the end of the wall, poles rise out of the lake, spinning in opposite directions, with rings swinging from their ends.
-
Aiko: Do we grab onto them?
-
Rey: It looks like we’ll have to make our way to that far wall by swinging from pole to pole, leaping onto those pillars, and then leaping onto that far wall.
-
Scene: After taking a few steps back, they both launch themselves off the walls and grab onto a ring. Once they come around to the next ring on the other pole, they release and grab onto it. Once the poles swing them 360 deg., pillars rise out of the lake. They release from the rings and jump onto the pillars. As they land, each of the pillars start to descend back into the lake. Quickly they leap to each pillar, until from the last one they leap and grab onto a ring hanging between two poles. After gaining enough momentum, they launch off of it and land on the final wall.

Scene: After landing, Rey begins to fall backwards, losing her balance. Aiko rushes down the wall to grab her before she falls in and disqualifies their efforts.
-
-
Aiko: Gotcha!
-
Rey: Thanks! That was close.
Aiko: Ya, I’m not doing that again.
-
Aiko: Ok puzzle master, we made it to the end, now what?
-
Rey: Now we receive the energy module.
-
Aiko: Is that it. I was expecting it to be bigger, like the ones on the sphere.
Rey: Everything the Atruvians make uses nano technology, which allows it to take different shapes. It’ll probably expand once it reaches the sphere.
Aiko: The only thing in that sentence that I understood was expand.
-
Rey: Haha. It also fits better on the back of your suit at this size. I’ll let you carry it back.
-
Scene: After the cylinder descends back into the water, a portal rises up.
-
-
-
Rey: This portal will take us back to the portal that we originally came down in.
Aiko: Why can’t it just take us home?
Rey: Challenge portals are only programed to take you from one challenge to the next, until you complete the last one.
Aiko: So when we get back to the next portal it will then send us home?
Rey: No, portals draw a lot of energy, and need to replenish their power source before they can be used again. We’ll have to run back to the Control Center. Thankfully it’s not far from where this will take us.
-
Scene: Once in position, the portal activates and sends them to their original portal.
