Chapter 39 - Torture Camp
Scene: The three watched behind the rocks as one of the goblins whips an Elf, and gasp in shock at their brutality.
-
-
-
Aiko: I just can’t understand the brutality of these creatures. They enjoy making others suffer. What will they do, start torturing each other once they run out of Elves? It’s mindless behavior.
Rey: I can’t help wonder how long the Elves and Pixies…
Gess: …and Pookas
Rey: …and Pookas, have had to deal with this continuous threat to their lives. We’ve been fortunate so far, but I now understand why the other Defenders never returned.
Aiko: I think our best line of attack is to wait until they’re asleep and approach from that wagon.
Scene: Aiko turns to Gess.
Aiko: You wait here until it’s safe.
-
-
Scene: Once the goblins had fallen asleep, Aiko and Rey creep up near the wagon. As they approach the goblins one of creatures stirs and moans, waking up one of the goblins, who then wakes the other.
-
-
-
Scene: Realizing they’ll have to act fast now, Aiko and Rey maneuver themselves under and over the goblins to kill them both.
-
-
-
-
-
Scene: After they are dead, they head over to the post that the other Elves are hanging from. Aiko pulls the chain to unhook it and Rey eases them down to the ground. After all three have been placed on the ground, Gess runs over to see them.
-
-
Elve #1: Who are you? How did you find us?
-
Gess: Falco died trying to save you, but before he passed, I received his memories, which showed us where you were.
-
Elve #2: Seer, we are fortunate that you found him, otherwise we would have died out here. Poor Falco, I told him to leave. It was too dangerous. He’s not a warrior, but he has a big heart. He will be greatly misses.
-
Elve #3: Where do you come from? I’ve never seen that clothing before. Have you come down from the Skyland?
-
Rey: We’ve journeyed from far away seeking an artifact that is very important to our people. But rest now, we can speak more in the morning.
-
Scene: As Aiko and Rey drag the goblins away from the fire, they discuss their plans for the morning.
Aiko: We need to be gone first thing in the morning before they get up.
Rey: Agreed. The more entangled we become with those down here, the further we get from completing our own task.
-
Gess: I found your clothes in the wagon. Falco wanted Ellia to have a journal he used to track the movements of the orcs in this part of the land. We left it in a hidden compartment in his desk drawer. Hopefully it will be useful to you.
Elve #2: Your kindness to us won’t be forgotten. We will be sure to get the book to Ellia.
-
Rey: Gess, we’ll need to leave first thing in morning to avoid any further questions by them. Do you still remember how to get to the path that leads to the Woodland Elves?
Gess: Although things are starting to fade, the important things to him are still clear. I can get us there.
-
-
Scene: The following morning they departed for the Woodland Elves.
