Chapter 40 - Woodland Elves

Scene: As they leave the woods, the trail leads them to a pond with a walkway around it.

  • Rey: This looks like the place Tobyn told us about.

  • Terra: Heads up we’ve got company.

  • Aiko: Do we really want to involve more elves in our search. If you haven’t noticed, we kind of stick out from everyone else.

Rey: Any help to speed up our search will be less time down here. This place is a warzone, and we’re stuck in the middle of it all, searching for something that may not even exist anymore.

  • Aiko: So, do we knock or just go in?

  • Scene: After entering the gates, they are caught by surprise by a couple of Wood Elves. Stopping them with swords to their throats.

  • Terra: Look what we have here Katira, two elves lost in our woods.

Rey: I take it you are the Woodland Elves?

  • Katira: Maybe not lost after all, maybe just trespassing. We kill trespassers.

  • Scene: While Aiko and Rey have swords at their throats, Gess has entered through a smaller gate, walked around a bush to stand behind the Woodland Elves.

Gess: Has it become common practice for Woodland Elves to attack a Seers escort?

  • Scene: The Woodland Elves quickly look over at Gess and realize she is a Seer.

Katira: Seer, forgive us, we did not see you there. These Elves…

Gess: …are my escorts. I had a vision of a lost artifact that will turn the tide against our enemy. These are my protectors as we search the land for it.

  • Katira: Please, allow us to help you if we can.

  • Gess: The object has this shape

Scene: Gess forms a triangle with her fingers.

Gess: Are you aware of such an object.

  • Katira: I have no knowledge of such an object. But the ruins will be a good place to begin your search.

Scene: The Woodland Elves turn and shake their head to each other.

Katira: Many ancient objects have been found there. We would be honored to accompany you.

  • Gess: I am grateful for the offer, but your place is here. It is enough to know that we have refuge in your woods.

Katira: As you wish. Follow this trail a day’s journey and it will lead you to the ruins. Peace be with you.

    Gess: And you.

  • Scene: After leaving the Woodland Elves, Aiko and Rey question Gess.

Aiko: Hold up! What just happened? How did you know that they wouldn’t just turn on you and kill you?

  • Gess: Because they didn’t in my vision.

  • Scene: Both Aiko and Rey look at her blankly.

  • Aiko: Come again.

  • Gess: It’s hard to explain, but since we’ve been down here, I’ve been having vision at night of what’s going to happen. Some of it is so clear, it’s as if it’s actually happening, but others don’t make any sense. It’s like a voice has been trying to speak to me, show me things, but I can’t quite hear what it’s saying. The night we came down here, I saw the vision of us meeting the Woodland Elves.

  • Aiko: That would have been nice to know before we had our lives threatened.

  • Gess: Sorry, I just didn’t know what to believe. But when I saw the side gate that I went through in my vision, I figured it must be real.

  • Rey: But how did you know what to say to them?

  • Gess: Because the voice in the vision told me what to say.

  • Scene: While Gess walked ahead of them, Aiko and Rey whispered to each other.

  • Aiko: I think something happened to her brain when she came through the portal with us. Hearing voices, seeing visions. Something’s not right with her.

Rey: Or maybe what we understand to be true in our land is the complete opposite down here. You saw how everyone keeps calling her a Seer, someone who sees visions. Maybe these Seers down here are trying to reach out to her, connect with her somehow. You have to admit, nothing about this place is anything like our land. I think there’s more to here to be learned beyond what we thought to be true.
